Cafe In The Sky | Tuba, Benguet

View at the restaurant's balcony

If you're already fed up with the busy and crowded streets of Baguio City, I know exactly a place nearby where you can find serenity---it's called Café in the Sky

The Cafe's facade

Café in the Sky is just 30-45 minutes of foggy and winding roads from Baguio town proper.  This restaurant turned Bed&Breakfast was initially created to cater the fans of the hit Teleserye: Forevermore. Way back 2014, many people would go to Tuba,  Benguet to watch the shooting of the scenes and also to personally see their favorite artists. Just imagine how heavy the traffic jams  were on their very narrow road and how filthy the place after the sudden upsurge of tourists that shocked the locals silently living in Mt. Santo Tomas. That's why the local government unit of Tuba hand in hand with Department of Natural Resources (DENR) is limiting the entry of tourists coming in to preserve the place.  They only allow residents to pass through actually.

How on Earth are you going there?

First,  you have to coordinate with the Cafe directly and inform them that you will either just dine in or stay overnight. So that they can give a heads up to the check point officers to allow your entry if you'll be using your private car. Otherwise,  you can commute and just ride a jeepney going up.

Breathtaking view from our window

By the way,  yaasss,  you can stay overnight for 24 hours with a rate of 2,200 pesos per room which is good for 2 adults and of course my 2-year old Yuri is free. Yaayy!

Yuri soundly sleeping

The room pretty much exceeded our expectations.  We got nice huge bed with super squishy pillows. And it's so kind for them to provide us an extra for Yuri without even requesting for one. Well,  it's not airconditioned or even a fan room but you know what? You don't need those because the room is well ventilated and to be honest shivery when we checked in. In addition to a sparkly clean room,  we also have like a small living room near the window where we can see the stunning views from the outside.

We arrived at around 3PM. It's so foggy and the temperature is numbing us. That's why we ordered for our dinner a dish which is hot,  soupy and new to our taste called Pinikpikang Manok plus  Kit's (my husband)  all time favorite crunchy spring rolls. Eating dinner in our own frosty room, sipping warm soup while overlooking Baguio City from the window sums up our stay in Café in the Sky.

The guard on duty named Giovanni happened to be an Ilocano like Kit.  So he mostly hang out with him after dinner and have a talk. Luckily,  he offered to tour us tomorrow morning in La Presa where they shot the Teleserye Forevermore. Well, we won't have anything to do tomorrow so why not!

Sunrise at around 7AM

We had a quality sleep last night. I left the sleepyheads and woke up on my own because i wanna witness the sunrise. As expected,  it's freezing cold while the wind blows a bit  strong. Oh,  how i love the sunrise up here. It looks so  picturesque and instagram-worthy. OMG!

Sunrise showing up on our window

I just wanna stare and watch the clouds pass by while feeling the heat of the sun kiss my skin.  I think this is the best sunrise that I've ever spotted in my whole life.

Restaurant's interior

Meanwhile,  I already ordered our breakfast and requested for it to be served not in our room but at the restaurant. Breakfast for two is already included in the room rate and I think that's awesome so we would have energy to go on our short tour later.

Alright,  so it looks like DENR's goal to preserve the area did a great job!  The place is so rural, tidy and nature-filled since the residents are farmers. I was kinda concerned because the road is not concrete and a bit slender plus its hanging on a cliff!  Really scaryyy to drive around!!  😱😰 But all in all,  it was  pleasant to be there and see how the locals comfortably live on their own no matter what. After that,  we headed back to the hotel for some rest and prepare for check out.

Meantime, before leaving Cafe in the Sky, make sure to put on your love locks here on their small fence. It's just located on the parking area. It would be nostalgic to leave a lock here, come back after a few years and seeing it rusty then all the memories would flash back into your mind...

Dearest Heaven, til we meet again here at Cafe in the Sky. Ciao!!!
